RCC – Column Design

RCC is a tool for the design check of a reinforced concrete section to AS3600, ACI 318 or CSA A23.3 using Metric or US units. Through a simple user interface, columns of rectangular, circular or free shape can be input, and checks for strength, fire, restraint, core confinement and shear can be performed with a click of button.

Check Any Shape

Column cross-sections can be input as rectangular, circular or free-shapes with down-pipes.

Interaction Diagram

RCC automatically plots the moment-axial (M-P) interaction diagram and shows loading lines that consider slenderness if applicable. Unfactored and predicted M-P curves are also plotted as is the range of factored axial force for seismic calculations.

Fire Check

Checks can be performed to the deemed to comply approach of ACI-318 or the 500°C Isotherm Method of EC2 Part 1-2.

Shear Check and Design

Tie spacing is checked against the requirements of the chosen design code including minimum spacing requirements and transverse tie spacing limits.

Check Sections of Any Shape

Stop switching between different tools for different members. RCC provides a robust modeling engine that supports standard rectangular and circular columns alongside irregular, user-defined shapes.

Complex Interaction & Slenderness

RCC bridges the gap between raw analysis and code-compliant design. By instantly evaluating axial-flexural capacity across every load combination, the software ensures that slenderness and biaxial effects are never overlooked, providing a definitive pass/fail for every column in your model.

Advanced Fire Engineering

Performance-based safety at the click of a button. The RCC module provides a comprehensive suite for fire safety analysis, allowing you to move beyond basic prescriptive requirements. By integrating advanced thermal calculation methods directly into the design workflow, you can verify structural integrity under extreme conditions without the need for external software or manual spreadsheets.

Transverse Reinforcement & Shear Design

Integrated detailing for strength and seismic resilience.

The RCC module eliminates the complexity of manual tie design by automatically integrating strength requirements with rigorous code detailing rules. From standard gravity columns to high-ductility seismic frames, the software ensures all transverse reinforcement is perfectly calculated to satisfy restraint, confinement, and shear demand.
